Just wanted to quickly touch base as I have been touring around Montreal and Gaspe, Quebec. Often when we travel, we think of travelling to far off places or somewhere exotic to spend our hard earned vacations. We need not look so far to find the beautiful location to holiday. Canada is absolutely breathtaking and most Canadians don’t realize it. I’ll be talking about some of the highlights over the next week or so. In the mean time, back to reality.
If you could travel anywhere in the world today, where would you go? For me, back to Gaspe, Quebec.
Just wanted to let you know that we have just released our Xplore magazine. This interactive magazine focuses on all things cruising with our preferred partners RCI, Celebrity Cruises, and Azamara Club Cruises.
Check it out and let us know what you think. Enjoy!
With all the hoopla recently about the new “big” ships, N.C.L.’s Epic and Royal Caribbean’s Oasis and soon to be released Allure taking place, it got me thinking of any other new builds on the horizon. There have been 6 new ships that have set sail this year alone with a further 14 more between now and the end of 2012. We’re talking ocean going cruise ships that are marketed in North America.
In an article today I read about the the new Disney Dream to be released in January 2011. Wow! Disney know how to do it right. They will have the industry’s first “Watercoaster. The AquaDuck (yes, as in Donald) isn’t your standard water slide. The coaster is a see-through acrylic tube — the length of 2-1/2 football fields — that winds around the top deck from funnel to funnel, up and down, at one point cantilevering off the port side 150 feet above the ocean!” Awesome!
Inside Cabins will have a virtual porthole where they will have four cameras positioned on the outside of the ship that will stream live footage onto high definition screens synchronized to the ships movement. Special guests will swim by including Peach from “Finding Nemo”, Mickey Mouse and haunted pirate ghost ship. (You can turn the screen off if the seas are too rough).
There are many more attractions on the new Disney Dream including a teens only spa, an area called “The District” on deck four for adults only, new dining options and bath tubs with seats and hand held shower heads for bathing young ones. With all this it begs the question: When can we go? The Dream sets sail January 26, 2011.
If you could travel any where in the world today, where would you go? For me, Santorini, Greece.
Was reading an article just now about the Norwegian Epic Aqua Park on its top deck. The article discussed whether the EPIC is now the top dog when it comes to family fun on the traditional pool deck on cruise ships.
Much can be said for the entertainment factor for adults and children alike, however, if this is not your thing, what makes you choose a certain cruise? Perhaps it is the facilities on board that a ship has to offer. Check out the SVEDKA Ice Bar on the EPIC. Here they will feature specialty SVEDKA Vodka and Inniskillin Ice Wines in a cool 17 degrees Fahrenheit bar.
What attracts you to a cruise? For me, there is a certain excitement when I think that on the same day I can ride one of the longest water slides at sea, sip ice wine in an Ice Bar and then later that evening watch Blue Man Group in the theatre. The Travel Brothers will see in October.
If you could travel anywhere in the world today, where would you go? For me – Capetown, South Africa for some World Cup Football

Just announced is the headlining entertainment on the new Allure of The Seas- the musical .Chicago This in addition to the musical Hairspray on the Oasis of The Seas takes the entertainment on a cruise ship up several notches. With everything else on these two ships bigger and better than most, Royal Caribbean International is leading the way with their entertainment on board. Having watched Hairspray on The Oasis, I can honestly say that it felt like I was on Broadway catching a show as opposed to a theatre at sea.
Not to be outdone, Norwegian Cruise Line has Blue Man Group as well as a Cirque du Soleil dinner theatre on board the new Norwegian EPIC ship coming this summer. I will post about these shows after we cruise on the EPIC this October.
Also just announced is the Godmother of this ship, country music performer, Reba McIntire. She will christen the ship at a ceremony in New York July 2, 2010.
If you could travel anywhere in the world today, where would you go? For me – Buenos Aires, Argentina.
I’m sure there are many things that come to mind, however, for the purpose of this blog, we will keep to travel. Rock Stars and World Leaders are headliners and guest speakers on many themed cruises in the coming months. Fans of music can sail on Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Simple Man Cruise or the Malt Shop Memories cruise with Frankie Avalon, Bobby Rydell and the Drifters. Those into politics can join former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev on a cruise.I think that if I were going to travel one of these sailings, it would have to be on Ships & Dip with the Barenaked Ladies. They have done this twice with a third one a possibility.
On a different note, Royal Caribbean International has just announced that they will show all of the World Cup soccer games on board their ships during the World Cup in South Africa this June and July. Amazing what can happen on a cruise ship these days.
If you could travel anywhere in the world today, where would you go? For me, Rome Italy
You guys were fabulous at taking care of all of our travel needs! Thanks so much!
